Policy for translation assignments

##### When you receive a request
- Read the request carefully and look through the material to be translated.
- Make sure you can meet the deadline.
- Decline any assignment that you feel unsure about.
- Declining an assignment will not exclude you from being asked the next time we receive a similar assignment. It is better to decline an assignment than to miss a deadline. Never accept an assignment that you are not sure about.


##### When you accept a request
- Confirm all assignments in writing.
- All terms and conditions of the assignment must be sent in writing to be binding.


##### When you carry out the assignment
- All translation assignments must be carried out in accordance with the ethical guidelines and other regulations for translators defined by the Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency. All assignments are subject to strict confidentiality as well as applicable data processing agreements.
- Any delays to an assignments must be communicated immediately. It is particularly important to keep to the agreed delivery time for express orders as these must be delivered at a specified time of day.


##### When you deliver a translation

Translations delivered to us must be proofread, free of spelling and grammar errors and reflect the intent of the original manuscript. Translations must comply with Språkservice’s style guide.


##### Updated information

Update us if you change anything in your profile (contact details, level of expertise, holiday periods, etc.). Log in to your vendor portal and change the data there. If you have registered a completed course of training or otherwise upgraded your skills, we need a copy of the diploma or certificate.


All assignments must be carried out in accordance with our general rules for translation assignments, data processing agreements and confidentiality agreements. The following rules apply to all translation assignments arranged by Språkservice.

We follow the ISO standard 17100:2015, which means that our translators must either be authorised, hold a degree in translation or equivalent, along with two years’ experience as professional translators, or they must have five years’ experience as professional translators. Apply to join our pool by filling in an application and sending it to us.

I would like to register to receive freelance work from you - how do I go about it and what requirements do you have for your translators?

We do not offer in-house training for translators. However, there are several translation programmes and courses that you can apply to.

I want to work as a translator, what courses are available? Do you offer in-house translation training?

Our prices are usually calculated based on the number of words contained in the text, but in some cases the fee is calculated per hour, so as a translator, you need to specify your rate per word, and per hour.

What does the payment model look like?

We receive a great number of applications every day, and we are not always able to respond right away. However, we will contact you as soon as we can to register you in our system.
