- Plan your time well and expect an interpreted conversation to take longer than a regular one.
- Make sure you have the right number for the interpreter.
- Have the conversation in a quiet room with no distracting or sudden noises in the background.
- Check your equipment before the call.
- Begin the conversation by stating the start time and introducing those present.
- Verify the booking number or interpreter number with the interpreter.
- Speak in short sentences; loud and clear and one at a time.
- Always speak in the first person.
- Inform the interpreter if anything else happens in the room, for example if a door opens.
- Verify the end time with the interpreter before ending the call.
